Despite Lesleys misconception, we never proposed eliminating Cycle Fit, an obviously popular activity for Y members. Our proposal was the sensible, member-friendly arrangement which the Ys own facility usage statistics (see Court Usage Analysis) indicated as the reasonable decision back in 1997:
Dear Lesley,
[...]
In 1997, former Y member Ed Dewar presented you and Greg with a petition signed by fifty Y members, opposing the conversion of one of the five squash courts of that time to Cycle Fit.
[...]
Then as now, it was plain to see that there were two racquetball courts which were generally empty, while squash courts were seeing high demand.
[...]
The two racquetball courts are still there, and are still idle most of the time. It is clear from the booking sheets that they are virtually never both in use.
[...]
We would like you to recognize the wishes of your membership by restoring the two squash courts we have lost. If no other location is more suitable, Cycle Fit can be moved to one of the racquetball courts.
